2014 Midterms: The Repudiation of President Obama

The 2014 midterm is over and there are many simple truths — the first of which is voters marched to the polls to send Barack Obama the message that he’s presiding over a failing Presidency. Nothing more, nothing less. The horrendous result for Democrats, to be accurate, was not a vote for the GOP — it was a vote against Obama, and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), in particular, zeroed in on incumbents with laser-like precision.

Reports the Washington Post: “From the outset of the campaign, Republicans had a simple plan: Don’t make mistakes, and make it all about Obama, Obama, Obama. Every new White House crisis would bring a new Republican ad. And every Democratic incumbent would be attacked relentlessly for voting with the president 97 or 98 or 99 percent of the time.”

(Scott, Gardner, Cotton and Tillis), Todd Harris of Something Else* Strategies (Ernst), Fred Davis of Strategic Perception (Snyder, Perdue, Sasse)… the list goes on and on.

Congratulations to all of the young operatives who worked 24/7 for well over a year to make their wins happen. Enjoy it.
